CSA-X-003-RH is a COTS X-band switched-beam hemispherical antenna module covering 8025 to 8500 MHz, steering electronically between fixed beams to deliver directional gain across a hemisphere with no moving parts, no deployment and no gimbal. Typical gain is 9 dBic RHCP with 2 to 3 dB axial ratio and 20 W power handling. TRL 9, qualified to NASA GEVS, 950 g in a 251 x 251 x 74 mm module.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Electronic beam switching provides directional downlink gain over a wide field of regard without the mechanism, control loop and single point of failure that a gimballed antenna introduces. The spacecraft selects the beam covering the ground station and radiates through it, achieving gain at attitudes an unpointed array could not serve. Gain is 8 to 10 dBic with 2 to 3 dB axial ratio and 2:1 VSWR through an SMA female interface. The module measures 251 x 251 x 74 mm (9.9 x 9.9 x 2.93 in) at 950 g, which reflects the switching network and the hemispherical aperture. The module is designed for high-throughput downlink applications in harsh space environments and is well suited to LEO, MEO and GEO missions. Qualification is to NASA GEVS (GSFC-STD-7000) with random vibration to 14.1 GRMS, humidity per MIL-STD-810 Method 507.6, and a -70 to +100 °C operating and storage range. ATH-X-002-RH is the compatible test hat for integration and acceptance testing.
