UHF Linearly Polarized Test Hat

ATH-UHF-001-LIN is a COTS antenna test hat for CSA-UHF-001-LIN, providing a shielded, repeatable coupling path to the flight antenna across 395 to 405 MHz. It allows RF functional testing, integration checks and acceptance measurements to be performed on the bench where free-space or chamber testing is impractical. Coupling is 4 dB typical, linearly polarized, with 43 dBm power handling and an SMA female interface at 720 g.

S-band active receive antenna

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

A test hat mounts over the flight antenna and couples a known, repeatable fraction of RF energy to a coaxial port without significantly disturbing the antenna's match, so bench measurements remain representative of in-orbit performance. Coupling is specified 3 dB minimum, 4 dB typical and 10 dB maximum, with VSWR between 2:1 and 3.6:1 across the band. The enclosure is RF shielded, which protects personnel working near a radiating UHF transmitter and prevents test energy from escaping into a licensed band. The hat mounts using interface features already present on the antenna, so no bracket is added to the spacecraft panel, and it dismounts without tooling. The envelope is 198 x 163 x 43 mm (7.8 x 6.4 x 1.71 in) at 720 g, matching the antenna footprint, and it is rated -70 to +100 °C so it can remain fitted through thermal testing. CSA-UHF-001-LIN is the matching antenna. Certain small-volume orders can ship within days rather than the months typically quoted for space-qualified hardware.
