This low-SWaP frequency-translating amplifier is designed for CubeSat and SmallSat communications, accepting 2125 to 2625 MHz RF and producing 8000 to 8500 MHz output with 28 to 30 dB linear conversion gain. Because the synthesizer and reference are internal, the only input required is RF, which removes a separate oscillator, its distribution network and its qualification from the design.
Conversion gain is 25 to 28 dB at saturation with 1.5 dB typical flatness, second and third harmonics held to -60 dB, and spurious output at -30 dBm maximum. Forward output power detection and UART telemetry report RF power, current draw and temperature, with software-settable enable and thermal shutdown thresholds.
Supply is 6.5 to 7.5 VDC drawing 3.1 A operating, 2.7 A quiescent enabled and 0.02 A disabled. Interfaces are MMCX-F input and SMP vertical male output, cooled by baseplate conduction with shutdown at +90 °C.
The card is 78 x 33 x 14 mm (3.07 x 1.3 x 0.55 in) at 34 g, rated -40 to +85 °C, vibration tested to MIL-STD-810. Typical lead time for standard configurations is 8 to 10 weeks.
