LGA-S-001-RH is a custom S-band low-gain antenna covering 2.025 to 2.120 GHz with 15 MHz of bandwidth, delivering 0 dBic across a ±60 degree field of view in RHCP. It supports TT&C, launch and early orbit phase, and safe-mode communications where no pointing is available. The configuration flew successfully on Kestrel Eye IIM, a U.S. Army space mission. VSWR below 1.5:1 with an SMA female interface.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW
Low-gain antennas carry the link during launch and early orbit, in safe mode, through the tumbling period after separation, and whenever attitude control is unavailable. Flight heritage matters more on an LGA than on almost any other antenna, and this configuration flew successfully on Kestrel Eye IIM. Coverage is 0 dBic across a ±60 degree field of view, delivering usable gain over a 120 degree cone rather than concentrating it at boresight. Polarization is RHCP, VSWR holds below 1.5:1, and the interface is SMA female. Qualification follows NASA GEVS Table 2.4-3 with 14.1 GRMS overall random vibration, minimum resonant frequency verification, and a 0.25 g low-level sine sweep before and after vibration. Thermal cycling is to mission requirements, typically -50 to -110 °C low and +50 to +90 °C high. Antenna radiation pattern and S-parameter testing run from 1 to 40 GHz, with workmanship inspection and acceptance testing before shipment. LGA-S-002-RH covers the S-band transmit allocation and is normally flown as the pair. Custom coverage, polarization, mechanical and interface configurations are developed per mission.
