TRL 9

RFE-XKU-001 is a receiver frequency extender that expands a software-defined radio to 12 GHz without redesigning the radio. In extender mode it accepts 7000 to 12000 MHz and translates to 1000 to 6000 MHz at 39 to 44 dB gain and 2.5 to 3.5 dB typical noise figure, with a selectable 600 to 6000 MHz bypass path. TRL 9, sized to standard CubeSat internal dimensions and mounting holes, 201 g.

S-band active receive antenna

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

An AD9361 or RadioVerse-class transceiver covers approximately 600 MHz to 6 GHz. This module places a switchable downconverter ahead of the existing radio so the mission can receive above that range without selecting a different radio and rebuilding everything that depends on it. Two modes are selected by a control pin. Bypass passes 600 to 6000 MHz through at 39 to 42 dB gain and 2 to 3.5 dB noise figure. Extender mode switches in the downconverter for 7 to 12 GHz input at 39 to 44 dB conversion gain and 2.5 to 5 dB noise figure. Antenna and local oscillator selection are separately controllable, so one card can serve two apertures and two conversion plans. Spurious is held to -50 dBm and out-of-band harmonics to 60 dBc, with a 10 MHz external reference input and 1-wire serial temperature reporting. Supply is 12 VDC at 0.33 A in extender mode and 0.19 A in bypass. The card is 96 x 90 x 14 mm (3.77 x 3.55 x 0.55 in) at 201 g with SMP male RF, baseplate conduction cooled, rated -40 to +85 °C. Typical lead time for standard configurations is 8 to 10 weeks.
