GPS L1 Test Hat

GPS L1 Test Hat

ATH-L-002-RH is a COTS antenna test hat for CSA-L-003-RH, covering 1563.42 to 1587.42 MHz for GPS L1 functional and acceptance testing. Coupling is held to a 4 to 6.5 dB window, the tightest specification in this test hat range, which is what allows carrier-to-noise measurements to be compared across units. RHCP with 43 dBm power handling, SMA female, 150 g at 81 x 81 x 33 mm.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Repeatable coupling is what makes a test hat measurement meaningful. A coupling factor that varies with seating carries an unknown offset into every reading, so the mounting interface is mechanically determined by features already present on the antenna rather than by operator technique. Coupling is 4 dB minimum, 4.5 dB typical and 6.5 dB maximum, with 2.5:1 VSWR across the band. The RF shielded enclosure allows GNSS simulator signal to be injected at realistic levels indoors without radiating into the L1 band, and protects personnel during transmit testing. The hat requires no bracket on the spacecraft and dismounts without tooling. At 81 x 81 x 33 mm (3.2 x 3.2 x 1.31 in) and 150 g it is the smallest fixture in the L-band group, rated -70 to +100 °C operating and storage so it can remain fitted through thermal cycling. CSA-L-003-RH is the matching antenna. Certain small-volume orders can ship within days rather than the months typically quoted for space-qualified hardware.
