CSA-L-003-RH is a COTS active GPS L1 antenna covering 1563.42 to 1587.42 MHz for spacecraft navigation and timing. Passive gain is 5 dBic typical with 2 to 3 dB axial ratio, and the integrated filter and LNA add 15 dB at 2.5 to 3.5 dB noise figure on 25 mA. At 130 g and 81 x 81 x 17 mm it is the lightest and lowest-power antenna in the GNSS line, and it is TRL 9.

PRODUCT OVERVIEW

Single-band coverage is the point of this configuration. Where the flight software needs only a GPS L1 fix for orbit determination and timing, this antenna delivers it without the mass and DC power that multi-band coverage requires. LNA gain is 12 to 18 dB and customisable on request, with 50 dBc of rejection at 1650 MHz protecting the front end from adjacent-band interference. Output 1 dB compression is 12 to 15 dBm. Supply is 4.5 to 12 VDC at 25 to 35 mA, and the interface is SMA female. The envelope is 81 x 81 x 17 mm (3.2 x 3.2 x 0.67 in) at 130 g. The antenna is designed for the harsh conditions of space operation across LEO, MEO and GEO, with a sealed and vented housing addressing corona, multipaction, atomic oxygen and MMOD exposure over a five-year mission life. Qualification is to NASA GEVS (GSFC-STD-7000) with random vibration to 14.1 GRMS across a -70 to +100 °C operating and storage range, and radiation tolerance is 250 krad(Si) with no destructive single event effects observed to 37 MeV-cm²/mg. ATH-L-002-RH is the matching test hat. An LNA-only configuration, LNA-L-001, is available for hardware-in-the-loop and irradiation testing.
